GENERAL INFORMATION:

Science Philosophy:  All science is taught from a creationist, biblical worldview while making students aware of other worldviews.  The objective is to teach students to see the Hand of the Creator in all of nature.  Classes are instructional, while stressing  hands-on lab activities.  Science Partners students will progress through the Life, Physical, and Earth Sciences, covering scientific information in a sequence similar to public and private schools.  Students will study Life & Biological Sciences on Track A and Earth & Physical Sciences on Track B, alternating each year at grade level. 

2007-2008 Track A classes for grades 3-8 and biology for grades 9-12 meet weekly for 1½ hours.  You may choose from three locations.  (If a weekly student misses a class, he or she may be able to make the class up at another location generally during the same week.  Call to check on availability.)  One marine science class for grades 10-12 meets monthly for four hours at SeaWorld.  High school biology is a prerequisite.   

REGISTRATION FEE for science classes is $150 for one weekly student; $125 each for weekly students with siblings enrolling; and $125 for monthly Marine Science at SeaWorld students.  This fee covers use of textbook (grades 5-12), lab equipment, supplies, and Answers magazine (one per family).  For marine science students, it also includes presentations, field trips, and SeaWorld behind-the-scenes activities.

 MONTHLY TUITION payments are due the first class day of the month, August through May.  Tuition is $60 per month per student or $600 per year.  You may save $25 by making a single payment of $575 by the first class.  A $5 per student late fee is due for each payment not made within a week of the due date.  Please make checks payable to Science Partners.  They may be turned in during class or mailed.

TFA HOMESCHOOL TUITION NOTE:  For students in TFA Homeschool’s Thursday program, TFA pays $22 from TFA tuition, and parents pay the $38 difference.  Your payments may also be placed in the “Clifton” folder near the homeschool office.

MONDAYS - LONGWOOD:   Monday classes for grades 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, and 9-12 (biology) meet at First Baptist Church of Altamonte Springs.  The church is located at 900 North Street, Longwood 32750, between Highway 427 and Palm Springs Drive.  Open House will be at FBC/AS on Thursday evening, August 16, 2007.  Details will be emailed as the date approaches.  Weekly classes run from August 20, 2007 to May 5, 2008.  PLEASE NOTE:  The church is closed on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 3.  That week, Longwood classes will meet on Friday, Sept. 7.  Classes will meet on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (Monday, Jan. 21) and President's Day (Monday, Feb. 18). 

TUESDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS - METROWEST ORLANDO:  Tuesday or Wednesday classes for grades 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, and 9-12 (biology) meet at Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church, coordinating with other homeschool classes offered by Pine Ridge Home Educators.  (See www.prhe.net for information on other classes.)  The church is located at 3900 South Hiawassee Road, Orlando 32835, across from Turkey Lake Park, four miles south of Highway 408 / East-West Expressway.  Open House will be at PRPC on Friday evening, August 17, 2007.  Details will be emailed as the date approaches.  Weekly classes run from August 21 or 22, 2007 to May 6 or 7, 2008. 

THURSDAYS - ORLANDO:  Thursday classes for grades 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, and 9-12 (biology) meet at First Baptist Church of Orlando, coordinating with The First Academy Homeschool's schedule.  IMPORTANT NOTE:  You do not have to be enrolled in TFA Homeschool's Thursday program to attend Thursday science classes.  The church is located at 3000 S. John Young Parkway in Orlando near the intersection of Interstate 4 and John Young Parkway.  (TFA Homeschool is on the church campus.  The school address is 2667 Bruton Blvd., Orlando 32805.)  TFA Homeschool / Science Partners Parent Meeting will be on Monday, August 13, 2007.  Details will be emailed as the date approaches.  Weekly classes run from August 23, 2007 to May 8, 2008, following TFA Homeschool's calendar. 

FRIDAYS - SEAWORLD:  Friday marine science classes for grades 10-12 meet at SeaWorld once a month from August through May (10 classes).  High school biology is a prerequisite.  SeaWorld is located at 7007 SeaWorld Drive, Orlando 32821.  Students will be involved in hands-on classes as well as projects, presentations, field trips, and SeaWorld behind-the-scenes activities.  Each student needs a SeaWorld annual pass.  Open House will be at PRPC on Friday evening, August 10, 2007.  Details will be emailed as the date approaches.

In order to dress for modesty, mobility, and safety, science students are required to wear a uniform.  It consists of a navy shirt (tucked in) and khaki shorts or long pants (no hip-huggers, low-risers).  Length of shorts must be close to the knee.  Girls may also wear Capri pants (no skirts, skorts, culottes, or jumpers).  Shoes must lace up and have closed toe and heel.  No skate shoes are allowed. 

Students must wear a Science Partners shirt with logo from Lands’ End.  See uniform information link above.  Many local stores have “uniform” lines of clothing where you may purchase khaki shorts, long pants, or Capri pants.  Please make sure the pants are “plain” with no extra buckles, bows, etc.  Pants may also be purchased from Lands’ End, but that is not required.  If you have trouble finding appropriate pants locally, try Lands' End. 

PLEASE NOTE:  Tuesday and Wednesday students may wear uniforms from Humphreys Junior High or TFA Homeschool’s program if they meet Science Partners’ dress code, preferably navy shirt (tucked in) and khaki shorts or pants (no skirts, skorts, culottes, or jumpers). 

Thursday students enrolled in TFA Homeschool’s Thursday program MUST wear a TFA uniform that also meets Science Partners’ dress code, preferably navy shirt (tucked in) and khaki shorts or pants (no skirts, skorts, culottes, or jumpers).   

Thursday students NOT enrolled in TFA Homeschool’s Thursday program must wear a Science Partners uniform.
